简介
I started songwriting after I crashed my car, and as it turns out, the accident couldn't have been more of a blessing. I was home a lot more and looking for a way to kill time. I never thought it would turn into anything serious...boy, was I in for a surprise! I started having this feeling that there was so much inside my heart to pour out and to share, and I wrote nearly 100 songs before going into the studio to record REALITY. Recording the ten songs I chose for the album at a small studio near my hometown in northeast Louisiana ended up being one of the best experiences of my life, without a doubt. REALITY is an exclamation of the idea that this life is what we've got, and subsequently what we make of it. My writing for the album explores different aspects of hurt, but more importantly aspects of healing. I believe that with everything we learn, and everything we teach, our reality changes...even if we don't realize it right away. Working with Al Gomes and A. Michelle at Big Noise in Providence, Rhode Island gave me a spark of confidence that I had previously lacked. They expressed much belief in me from the first time they heard my songs, and I was blown away by the Recording Academy's consideration of the album (and a few of its tracks) for 2006 Grammy nominations in six categories. Making these relatively short lists in such a competitive field (and one full of such amazing talent, undoubtedly) was more than I ever dreamed would come about for me in my musical endeavors. At this point, I understand the importance of continuing to move ahead, to continue to make music and share it...the idea that people could draw strength and encouragement in finding my themes to be universal is the greatest reward I could ever hope for.
