简介
This CD includes live recordings (warts and all) from a trip I took to South Australia to participate in the Kernewek Lowender festival in 2013. I had a wonderful time, and made many memories of people, places and odd ways of saying things which I will never forget. The Southern Cross glowing in an india-ink sky was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. The rest of the songs have in one way or other something to do with my relationship to Cornwall. Two of them are about Wearnes in Cornwall, one of whom (Daniel) was my Great-Great Grandfather. A couple are rather angry songs about the treatment of the Cornish people and culture by people who claim to be acting in the best interests of Cornwall, but, well, aren’t. I had the great honor of working with two great Cornishmen and wordsmiths, Craig Weatherhill and Paul Dunbar on two of the songs, and Craig plays the Mighty Mellotron on one of them. The opening number is a light-hearted look at planning my Australia trip, for which I hope to be forgiven. (The song, not the trip. Well, maybe the trip too.) Much credit must be given to Robert Rose of Peregrine Recording. His technical skills are here throughout, but, more important, his masterful musicianship in both instruments and vocals are heard here in, as they say, spades. His support, friendship and generosity help keep me at it. The wonderful drumming you will hear is courtesy of The Great Michael Cole. Many thanks to Susan Rose for the advice on sequencing.
