简介
This CD explores the relationship between a Cornish-American and Cornwall, the homeland. The songs are funny, angry, wistful, melancholy and sentimental, sometimes all at once. Some of the songs result from visits to Cornwall with observations and comments on what was heard and seen. Some reflect the soul-level feelings of a descendant of immigrants for the old country. Some reflect hope and belief that Cornwall will someday regain its rightful status as a nation. Some songs reflect connections on a personal and cultural level to people and places in Cornwall. The Cornish are a Celtic people. Anyone with a curiosity about the Celts in America will find interest in this CD and Jim Wearne’s other CDs (available on CDBaby.) The Cornish have helped to build America in ways that include mining, agriculture, industry, culture, politics and more. America would not be what it is today without the Cornish, although few are familiar with Cornish-Americans or their many contributions. Jim Wearne is a “Cousin Jack” (a Cornish-American) who is constantly exploring the relationship between the New World and the Old. To learn, to explore, or just to enjoy, listen to (and hopefully buy) these songs. If you’ve never met a Cousin Jack, it’s high time you did!
