Following the kind invitation of my friend Roland to write some words for this album, I heard all the tracks, as in a hammock, calm, watching history pass by, on boats and carts, riding and walking by different geographies and cultures. Studying the rhythms, I learn that the name "bambuco" was taken from the word "bambuk", name of a western Africa river, where they danced a similar rhythm, although some other historians and folklorists say that its origin is Chibcha. A large majority argues it´s a direct influence of the New Kingdom of Granada. Finally, our music is essentially the product of miscegenation and impersonation of each individual heart, its region and its time. When I listen Entretejido music the sensations and images are diverse and I feel like I’m in a “Chanson de geste”, battling with a dragon, or releasing people from oppressive gods and men. But suddenly, with a stroke, I'm dancing and communing with earth at primeval Africa. Strings vibrate and I find myself Sáliba and Guahibo, riding with Ramon Nonato. A trip. This sound is not just three musicians, Bandola, Tiple and Guitar, Entretejido are we all and this album is the response of the people, always free but seeking today’s independence through contemporary culture, this is the new history.
