简介
Little known beyond a few important musical categories, Derwood Andrews IS known as one of England’s top rock ‘n’ Roll guitarists. Honing his skills with his first band and original Punks Generation X, with classic tracks like ‘Your Generation’, ‘Youth Youth Youth’ and ‘Dancing With Myself’, he left to form his own group Empire. Only releasing one album ‘Expensive Sound’, it unwittingly helped to ignite the EMO movement in Washington DC, whilst at that time he was forming another band back in England called Westworld. Westworld took the European charts by storm with songs like ‘Sonic Boom Boy’, ‘Banana Bamboo’ and ‘Silver Mac’ and for their third album ‘Movers & Shakers’ the band relocated to Arizona for a number of years. After Punk, EMO and Rockabilly Pop it was time to create an Electra Blues recording group called Moondogg. Moondogg have released three albums to date to high critical acclaim. …And now ‘Tone Poet’ volume one. This solo album was first released in 2007 and was hijacked by an unscrupulous company but now in 2013 it has an official release with some different mixes. It is mostly a collection of songs that never found a home for Derwood’s projects at the time. Some tracks go back 20 years while others are just this year. The notable thing is the continuity in production techniques and playing skills through the years, whether it’s electric guitar, acoustic, slide, lap steel, banjo or even bass and drums, Derwood Andrews’s natural passion and talent shine brightly on this album. Singing was never his strong point, but getting the tune and the meaning across without annoying the listener is good enough and uniquely suits the music.
