"The Real Thing" EP is essentially an homage to my upbringing in Memphis, surrounded by soul music and soul artists. "To Love a Man' was the record that gave me the courage to stay true to that classic sound. I grew listening to music that was recorded live. They were all together, all in a single room, just playing some tunes, and thriving on the creative experience. It wasn't "pop-perfect," but you felt the music. The creation of this EP called for the organic, old-fashioned relationship between a singer/songwriter and her players.
