As native Memphian assimilating into L.A. life, I constantly seek to find authenticity in unlikely places. "The Real Thing" explores the journey of discovering my true voice. In all its gritty, soul-tinged glory.

"The Real Thing" is an homage to my upbringing in Memphis, surrounded by soul music and soul artists. I grew listening to music that was recorded live. They were all together, all in a single room, just playing some tunes, and thriving on the creative experience. It wasn't "pop-perfect," but you felt the music. That's what I have tried to emulate with "The Real Thing". This EP is a celebration of the organic, old-fashioned relationship between a singer/songwriter and her players.
