Paul Safar is a living classical composer based in Oregon. This cd's title track is a 20 minute song cycle with text from Basho. The chamber group of piano,bass and trumpet support Nancy Wood's lovely soprano. Other pieces on the cd are solo atmospheric piano and even a children's story for string quartet and narration. A thread of music inspired by the natural world is woven through songs like "Spider" and " Cat on a Wire".
