简介
“What glorious songs you write, what glorious ways you choose to record them” Charles Jenkins .....Like the many great songs written by the legendary author of this quote, Jim Kane's songs didn't just pop into his head one night in the middle of a dream. Although this can allegedly happen to the occasional pop song writer, and can make for a good quote in itself, the reality is that it has taken years of constantly honing his craft to get to the collection of songs that make up his new album 'Trigger Happy Love ' The hard work and persistence has paid off, as Jim delivers a thirteen track album full of melodic invention, classis pop arrangements and Abbey Road inspired harmonies. Jim was ably assisted by his band the CBs (aka the Codebreakers) and producer Neil Kelly (who has worked with the likes of Bo Diddley, Elvis Costello and David Byrne to name a few). Needless to say, Trigger Happy Love is a polished affair. Jim's Glaswegian heritage shines through his songwriting, with a mish-mash of Australian and UK pop influences apparent. At times reminiscent of the breezy melodic pop of UK bands such as the Kinks and Blur, the album also has a strong melancholy side that captures moods of longing and disconnection more akin to the melodramatic soundscapes of Australian acts such as the Triffids and the Church. Jim Kane & the CBs have shared stages with the likes of the Wellingtons, The Cheats, Brian Hooper, The Skybombers, The Basics, Young Werther, Jordie Lane and The Smallgoods. The album is quickly gaining strong critical praise : "what a gorgeous, austere song. Jim Kane sounds like a songwriter from a different era, a man who possesses a great, emotive voice." Dom Alessio, Triple J "Wow! What a gorgeous sound." Maddy Mcfarlane, Homebrew 3PBS FM "Trigger Happy Love features some terrific songs." Stuart Cope, 2SER/Laughing Outlaw Records.
