简介
This band has toured the world, played in front of millions, had top 10 albums, played for presidents, movie stars, athletes, and superstar musicians. New Religion started out their journey to Asia with a bunch of great songs under their collective belt [Afro-Adesiac], but during the tour songwriter Scott McGinley (Bliss, Pop Is Art, The Insiders) found himself with lots to write about. His long distance relationship strains, increased sentimentality from being away from home, and all the new experiences triggered a writing spree. At this time New Religion was both a pop and a funk band, so you'll find a mixture of the 2 styles here as well as some blues and a couple nice ballads-which Scott began writing more and more of. "Pride" is a great Lenny Kravitz inspired ballad about traveling, and "I will Always Love You" is a hopeful song about love that chugs along on a great McCartneyish bass line. "Forever" and "Moving EZ" have a smooth R'n'B vibe, while "Thinder & Lightning" and Liar are funky Prince meets the Beatles tunes. Most of the lyrics here are very auto biographical-hence the name Asian Diary! New Religion recorded much music before morphing into the even more popular BLISS (see Bliss AKA Scott McGinley's "Collection" on Cd Baby featuring perfomances by members of Santana, Chicago, and Saga).
