简介
Do you miss the care-free days of 70’s and 80’s rock? The sing along melodies, the memorable lyrics, and the energy and drive of heavy guitars and powerful drums… Rude Awakening’s new CD epitomizes and embraces the mood and feeling of that bygone era or rock music. Their music was influenced by a diverse group of artists: Boston, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Kiss and The Beatles. But listeners will also hear musical traces of other arena stalwarts such as The Eagles, Journey, Night Ranger, Reo Speedwagon, as well as certain groups from the Glam or “Hair Band” genre, like Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, and Poison. Produced by Beau Hill, Rude Awakening’s self-titled CD is a throwback to an era of guitar driven power pop. So why revisit this musical era? Rude Awakening is actually the prequel or forerunner to what later became the award winning power pop band, The Pozers--formed by Jim Richey in 1994. So the Rude Awakening project to The Pozers is similar to how Mudcrutch is to Tom Petty. The Pozers have released six CD’s worldwide and are still musically active. So if you are a fan of The Pozers and would like to see their musical origin and songs they were writing as teenagers, check out this new CD. Rude Awakening was formed in Winnsboro, TX in 1985 and disbanded in 1989. Most of the members were prolific songwriters, but since they were teenagers, they were never signed to a record label, thus never released an official CD. The idea behind this CD project and reuniting of band members (Jim Richey, Jeff Hamm, Kenny Swann and Jeffrey Galloway) came from an imaginary “what if…” scenario. For example, “What if Rude Awakening had been discovered and signed a record deal during their time as a band?” “Which original songs would have been used for the CD?" and "How would they have sounded in a professional recording studio with a big time producer?” So even though this new CD was recorded and released in 2015, the attitude, songs, and image of the band are that from 1987. Rude Awakening’s CD features 14 original songs. Of these 14 original tracks, 4 of the songs are ballads: 2 power ballads (“Goodbye” and “You Slipped Away”) and 2 traditional ballads (“For Angie and “Traci”). So if you like guitar-based 70’s and 80’s rock, and bands from that time period, or you are fans of The Pozers and curious as to what kind of songs they wrote as teenagers, check out Rude Awakening’s CD. You won’t be disappointed! Rude Awakening has dedicated this CD to their old friend, Matthew “Smurf” Murphy who was killed in an automobile accident in the summer of 2014--leaving behind a young son, Waylon. Profit made from the Rude Awakening CD will go to a fund for Smurf’s son.
