http://www.livebeijingmusic.com/tag/old-man-mike/ And last but not least, a friend of mine, a rowdy Manchester gent who used to accompany me to shows in my early days – to heckle, encourage, and basically create uncomfortably awesome situations (i.e. taking the mic from the lead singer of Reflector in front of thousands at Strawberry) has secretly been releasing electronic music under the name Old Man Mike. I happened upon his latest ambionic release Dormants on Facebook and figured I might as well pimp out my buddy’s work (of course without his consent) – he’s selling it somewhere but I’m sure if you buy the bloke a beer he’ll gladly get a copy for you. You can listen to his music over at Soundcloud. Fucking Manchester brothers… http://www.livebeijingmusic.com/tag/old-man-mike/ Old Man Mike brings his second release under the CerePop Records label. "Dormants" moves away from the stark arrhythmia of his debut to a much more placid casual plane of interpretation. This is a record for the future. In fifty years time this may be described as disco- what a terrifying vision of the future that would be (This ain't disco). Track by track: 1 - Blazing Hot Probe Our eventual wasteland, radioactive and populated by dangerous, mutated insects. 2 - Shadow Light A Black Knight orbits high, ancient sword burning against endless infinity. 3 - Väinämöinen Arising from the wasteland, the magician surveys his empire. Lost creatures from dimensions long forgotten rise and see the light once again. 4 - Solar People Children of the Glow gather in hushed crowds, a great sphere encompasses the sun and tortures the light until even the mountains weep. 5 - Anx Anx an Mit-k Dank, hallow clouds fall mercilessly from the sky; fork'd bolts of lightning scatter across silver edged blades. 6 - Iron Mountain At the heavy gates of the subterranean complex a lonely soul reads the expressions of the chosen. 7 - Seven Footprints Outside the winds howl through rock formations and tear trees from the root. Survivors resist in vain- too torrid a time is this for mere men. 8 - Acacia Maidenii Far away, preparations are made for the next stage. Fortunate children sleep for an eternity. 9 - The Bronchus The secret so-guarded for millennia turns on its captors and gives light to those in darkness. 10 - Joyned By Maebie The visitors leave with a conundrum.
