Divertimento for Piano and Violin, Opus 25. It is summer and you have a few moments before the day begins. You look out onto the lawn and see the children's toys laying there from the day before, and you remember when you too, had toys on the lawn. Summer Morning Songs is a collection of songs for Piano with Violin accompaniment. The songs are a collection of remembrances of childhood and family. Childhood days with ice cream, endless hours watching things like spiders and birds, and so forth, and drinking lemonade through straws. The large dead tree on which all the neighborhood kids would gather, sitting on the edge of a lake for hours, pretending to be pirates, or adventurers. We wanted this album to be one of questions; a child's question to her parents regarding life, nature, the existence of death, and what all of that meant. Listening to another artist speak about her family, we began to wonder what family had become. My thanks to Ann Midsommer for her excellent Violin work in this recording.
