简介

HEDRICK is a group led by songwriter-musician David Hedrick and accompanied by wife Ella Hedrick. HEDRICK's third album, "Rider" brings together 11 original songs about the many facets of relationships: passion, retribution, lost opportunities, and second chances. Whether the stories call to your own past or talk about your tomorrows, each one will touch your heart. "Rider" was mastered by Sean Magee in Studio 6 at Abbey Road Studios, London. David paints with sound - singing lead and harmony vocals supported by layers and blends of acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, bass, banjo, harmonica, kazoo, mandolin, drums, incidental percussion, and anything else around the studio that will bring a fitting tone. He weaves his stories into the paintings with lyrics sometimes haunting, sometimes whimsical. He moves easily from blues to bluegrass, from rock to country while writing, performing, recording, and producing original tunes. Ella sings harmonies on several tracks (check out the background chorus vocals on "In Someone's Debt"), and plays the nyckelharpa and occasional percussion on the album (listen to the maracas step in during the break on "It's Alright"!). "Rider" introduces new songwriter Rachel Mullins in her writing debut, the folk-rock "Take Me Back", which she co-wrote with David in March of 2013. She tells the darker side of a classic love story, singing the lead and harmony vocals. She also plays the tambourine on this track. Ella sings backing harmonies and sets the opening's unique mood with the nyckelharpa. David frames the picture with percussion, guitar, and banjo, mandolin, keyboards, and bass. Each song in the "Rider" collection is unique, filling a space in the puzzle of relationships. "Since You Caught My Eye" starts the mix, telling the story of that special encounter. The thought-provoking "She Asked Me Once" will bring out memories of that one girl and love that slipped away. "It's Alright" shows that love and hope can heal - if we stay. David brings us heartbreaking blues with "The Next New Thing", showing how love can be abused. You can't help but smile with the naughty "I Want to Take You" or feel the frustrations of misunderstood youth with "Why Won't You Listen to Me?” Rachel Mullins plays the clarinet lead on "Where You're Coming From", a song that highlights the bewilderment and confusion we sometimes endure. Nan Wilson Wilkenfeld joins HEDRICK for the 'oooos' on “Hey Babe (Don’t You Want to Go?)” The Beatles, and John Lennon in particular, have been a strong influence on David's music. The "Rider" cover photo is a tip-of-the-hat to the Beatles, featuring a lamp once owned by John Lennon and David's fedora. Now based in "the Great Northwest" - Seattle, Washington - HEDRICK's sound and expression continue to evolve as David writes music that speaks of the desires, the challenges, and the rewards of the relationships closest to our hearts. HEDRICK is currently involved in a project of blues and rock and their website, (HEDRICKmusic) is under development. The group's first album, "An Undeniable Noise", is a multi-genre collection of 14 original songs mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios, London. "Why Don't You Know", HEDRICK's second album, is an acoustic-based collection of 11 songs with occasional electric accents and additional vocals by Joey Kelley and Heather Kelley on the song "Maddie Sue Balleu". The album was mastered by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios, London. The three albums and individual songs are available for download on iTunes, Amazon MP3, cdbaby, Bandcamp, Google Music, Simfy, and TuneCore. Cds are available on Amazon.com. Songs from the albums are playing on Jango, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Rhapsody, Napster, Zune, Verve Life, and more. Album cover design and photograph copyright 2014 David R.
