Put a tattoo artist, a videographer and a lifeguard on a stage together, throw in a crate of Relentless and you’ll get a trio that are at the cutting edge of British post-punk. The sound and energy created by I, The Lion when let loose on stage mezmerises audiences, comparing them to acts double their size. The balance of catchy hooks against brutal drums and roaring guitars sets these guys apart from other artists, reassembling between ‘old’ and ‘new’ Biffy Clyro. The band have had a very successful year, being featured in Front magazine, played on BBC 6 and touring the UK 3 times. They’ve been away writing and recording their new EP ‘Run’ with Jason Wilson (You Me At Six, Fightstar, Reuben), which is due out mid 2014. Their new single ‘Hold Strong’ is due for release in July along with a new music video to showcase their talents. Starting in 2010 when Chris Evans (Vocals/Bass) joined with Elliot Withers (Guitar/Vocals) while at University and began writing together. After only a couple of shows people recognized how well the two wrote together and soon they enlisted Nath Priday (Drums/Vocals) to complete the group. With over 1000 downloads of their debut EP in its first month alone, they knew they had stumbled onto a winning formula together. Their latest EP Tides and Tales came out in May 2013 and has proven to be a hit among their loyal fan base. From the sing-along anthemic opener ‘We Built The Ocean’, through to the brutally epic closer ‘Morgs Is A Superhero’, Evans’ cryptic lyrics and story telling ties perfectly with the music. There are few bands who can capture such a broad market, I, The Lion have managed to apply themselves to audiences they didn't know could be captured.
