简介
"Like Biffy Clyro with their balls reattached" James Scarlott, 2000 Trees Festival "Catchy riffs and fast paced beats to tantalize your ear buds. A sound that begs to be heard!" Skye Portman, Bring The Noise "These guys play as tightly as any band can, demonstrating abundant reserves on energy as they bound relentlessly up and down the stage." Death Before The Cage "I, The Lion" are a 3 piece post-punk trio from Cheltenham (UK), featuring heavy progressive bass lines, twisting guitar riffs, hard hitting drums and melodic harmonious vocals. This is a band who were made for creative songwriting. Even on the road they end up bursting into improvised acapella songs about the most surreal of topics (pie, cans of Relentless, the man in the other car). But when it comes to playing, they take every ounce of energy and put it into every song. They are renowned and commended for superbly playing highly complex parts while rocking out so hard. Since conception in 2011, ITL have established a well deserved reputationfor their exuberant live performancesand huge sound - but that's what you get when you put bass strings on a guitar and drop the tuning down 6 steps! Combine this with their ever growing light show and a drummer that even the dead could hear, you end up with a trio on the cutting edge of the British post-punk scene. With pure power, aggression and endless energy, "I, The Lion" feel most at home when on the road and have been making their mark on the live circuit, having toured the UK 4 times and playing every show they can. Along the way they have shared the stage with some amazing acts including Gallows, DZ Deathrays, Three Trapped Tigers, Talons and Emp!re to name a few. The band have been away working on their new record, 'Run', which is due for release in February 2015. The 4 track EP was recorded with Jason Wilson (You Me At Six, Reuben, Fightstar) at Stakeout Studios in London. When listening to the tracks you can hear why so many well established artists choose to work with Jason. It perfectly captures the huge raw sound of the band and gives you a great involvement with how "I, The Lion" work musically. The title draws on the common theme running throughout the lyrics, of trying to get away and create something new and real. This is explored in Evans' cryptic lyrics and storytelling, while creating vivid mental imagery to accompany them. Guitarist, Elliot met Nath (drums) when his previous band lost their drummer a week before tour. Nath was the first guy to audition and learnt the whole set in a day. The first show was nearly a disaster after breaking down at the venue, sleeping in an air tight car and almost suffocating. But this never demoralised them and ever since have blended together to become a songwriting machine. Years later Chris and Elliot met at university while studying music. They started writing and playing acoustic shows which showcased their raw talent and how well their voices worked together. They soon realised they wanted to take that next step with their sound and in 2011 recruited Nath on drums to form I, The Lion. Outside of the band the three guys have an array of hobbies. Chris is a tattoo artist, Elliot delves in videography, and Nath has crossed lots of paths, including football, cage fighting and basketball. Put all of this together and you end up with energy, passion and creativity combined - all recorded on camera. Their first single got over a 1000 downloads in its first month, a huge achievement for a band only formed a month prior. The song quickly became known throughout the local rock scene from relentless gigging and promotion. The follow up EP, Tides and Tales, was once more a success with the anthemic opening track becoming a fan favourite at every show. More recently the band released the first single, Hold Strong, from the upcoming new EP. They debuted it at 2000 Trees Festival and gave out the single for free. All 200 copies were gone under 30 seconds with people crowding around to pick up a copy after their performance. Now they are hoping to continue this success with Run in 2015. Since forming, the band have worked hard to craft their sound and make their mark on the UK scene. As the years have passed, most notably they have become more technical in their songwriting to try and play music that is complex but not difficult to listen to. Along the way they've built up a good following and picked up some dedicated fans and are determined to keep building their reputation as a band to watch.
