简介

"Rubinstein rises to the occasion, throws himself into the music and gives an excellent performance – with a subtle and judicious use of rubato – by turns virtuosic and extrovert, delicate, melancholic and regretful. The transcription of Bach’s great Chaconne in D minor is well known so all I need to say is that Rubinstein essays it with the aplomb and rubato he employs for the Elegien. A fine disk of, possibly, Busoni’s most approachable piano work in the modern style, in performances worthy of the music." Bob Briggs (MusicWeb International - Feb. 2008) "This is a very fine recording of Busoni's Seven Elegies and transcription of Bach's Chaconne, so fine that one appreciates the music anew and the player for his taste and intelligence. David Rubinstein is an outstanding pianist with a big sound, a muscular technique, and a powerful attack. Better than that, he has a keen mind that appreciates the austere but revolutionary genius of Busoni's music and above all the death defying intensity of the Chaconne transcription." James Leonard in All Music Guide (June 2008) Compelling performances, unique artistic vision and imaginative programming are the hallmarks of David Rubinstein's concerts. David Rubinstein made his American debut at the age of nineteen at the National Gallery of Art in an acclaimed performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations, and his U.K. debut at London's Wigmore Hall. He has appeared in recitals and orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe, including the 2007 Whittier College Bach Festival, the San Diego Convention Center, the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago, Merkin Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, the Warsaw Chopin Society, Hilversum Radio, the Long Island Beethoven Festival and the Chautauqua Festival. His reputation for playing contemporary music and sightreading ability have established him as one of the most sought-after pianists in the major Hollywood film studios such as 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Sony Studios and Universal. In September 2007 he was added to the Musicians Roster of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Additional career highlights include the acclaimed world premiere recording of Sibelius piano works, originally issued by Musical Heritage Society and currently re-issued on Musicus Recordings. He has given concerts featuring the works of American composers such as Charles Griffes and Aaron Copland at the American Landmark Festivals, as well as performing his own works.
