The socialist feminist swing collective Cats & Dinosaurs have since their first gig on Election Day in 2014 made it their mission to remind us all that jazz was the punk of the twenties. Unlike other swing bands, they play only original songs, all with political lyrics in Swedish. With their irresistibly catchy songs, and radical analysis, they quickly became the new favorites of many a swing aficionado, as well being frequently banned and canceled for being ”to political”. In the spring of 2016 they released their debut album ”Swing på barrikaderna" (Swing on the barricades) on the independet artist-owned record label collective PACAYA records and their music began to spread to a wider audience both at home in Sweden and abroad. 
 Just a year later, they are back with their second album. The Swedish title translate to ”Capitalism Is A Dream”. Those who fell in love with the playful old timey jazz, punk energy and poetically political texts of their debut album can expect to fall head over heels once again.
 The album ́s main focus is of course capitalism.While socialists are frequently told that socialism is a naive utopia, Cats & Dinosaurs wants to turn the tables and examine the notion that it is in fact capitalism that is an unrealistic system and a childish dream. Following this vision they have mercilessly dissected capitalism from a variety of perspectives. The theme is further explored in the psychedelic cover art made by one of Sweden ́s most famous socialist feminist comics artists Sara Granér. In order to sell it all more popular topics have also been included, such as the Swedish royal family and consensual sex. 
 Musically the band has used a broader palette and their sound has developed in a slightly darker direction. In addition to the obvious influences of early jazz and blues, the music gets a unique character with references to everything from punk and free jazz to classic national romantic composers. The horn section has been expanded which is fully exploited when the bands pulls out all the stops, but there are also plenty of intimate moments. Some extra silver lining is provided by blues singer Christoffer Johansson's guest appearance on "Panama" and ”Samtyckesblues” (Consensual Blues).The song ”Samtyckesblues”, a dirty blues celebrating consensual sex, will be released as an english version. It is also part of a burlesque act by the feminist burlesque artist Märit, which will be filmed by award-winning film maker Camilla Topuntoli.
