Born in 1962 in Dublin, Ireland, I grew up in a world of sound. Gale force winds shaking the slates on the roof. The foghorns on a foggy night and the night train roaring by were the beginnings of my first interest in music. Popular music was forever on in the house from the fabulous Chieftains on my Da’s side, Frank Sinatra on me Ma’s side, to the elder brothers’ Moody Blues and Cream. My own interests led me to tuning into shortwave radio each night. There was always an eerie “Wooo wrrr” sound and one would discover new music every night. My fondest memory is hearing for the first time Brian Eno’s “Music for Airports”, the bad quality of the reception actually enhancing the ambient nature of this classic album.

Moving on, being a teenager in Dublin in the late 1970’s, punk and new wave led me in a different direction. Not being able to play, I pogo’d my way into my late twenties with a Korg polyphonic keyboard in various bands who will never be remembered.

Later still, I pogo’d to Canada in the early 1990’s, got married, brought up the children and came back full circle to “Music for Airports”. I bought it to help my infant son to sleep (it never worked, strangely enough Blur or St. Etienne had a better effect). I bought a four track cassette recorder, guitar and keyboard and began experimenting with sound again.

This is my second release following my ambient album “Fothracha” .
