As an artist who likes to rock, I also need some quiet time for thinking, reading or drawing. Influenced by the work of Stanley Kubrick, Wim Wenders, Brian Eno and many others, I wanted to create a soundscape of my past in Ireland, as I now live in Canada. Mainly writing on guitar and then transferring to piano, this music started on a four- track cassette recorder. It was thanks to an interview I heard with Brian Eno where he compared creating some music to that of the work of a sculptor that the album was finally completed. Realizing then that I had in fact recorded too many notes and effects, I went back to work carefully stripping down each piano piece. Hopefully the next album won't take as long.
