I was born in Kyoto, Japan, the cultural capital there, November 29, 1951, just six years after World War Two ended....perhaps the most brutal was in world history. However, I attempt to capitalize on what I believe are God given gifts to me. Since the age of sixteen when I began a series of eighteen hospitalizations for schizophrenia and a bipolar condition, I have sought to conquer my disabilities. Physically, I am beset with Sugar Diabetes Type 2 and high blood pressure. But if you look at me, you will see a happy, enterprising being. Please listen to my songs. I have only been playing my keyboard for two years and seven months now. Today's date is December 4, 2010. I have never taken a single music class nor has anybody taught me how to compose my songs or melodies. How am I able to do this? God must love me! I never had a father figure. Television, movies, books, magazines are where I found my role models. Am I so different really? I grew up with Americana and our country must be doing something right; it produced me! That's right. My name is Minka the Elf. So why do I spell out my name, Zenko Paul Sakomizu? Because my favorite Revolutionary War hero is John Paul Jones. When the sails of his ship were tattered by gunfire, he cried loudly to his British adversaries, "I have just begun to fight!" So you see, in his words are embodied the American Spirit, a sense of oneness, yet all the while being the individuals of our epitaphs someday.
