NOW...HERE...THIS.... Releasing a second album is always a hard nut to crack for any band that issues a stormer of a debut album as did Mod Radio UK favourites, Eurovox with their initial release, "This Is...Eurovox", now they`ve cracked that nut right well and truly open with their new release of, "Now, Here, This", a 11 track CD album packed full to the brim with even more unique, as per say, superb Indie Mod power punk melodies that we`ve come to enjoy as the Eurovox sound! The US based Modtastic trio have released this new offering with 10 self penned tracks and an impressive Motown classic cover on this CD, as the press release announced, "Every cut on the CD provides the listener with another audio window into the world of Eurovox" and if you haven`t heard these chaps yet, it`s about time you guys `n dolls, woke up and smelt the coffee! Quoting the lads themselves, "This is a return to roots, back to when I was a kid growing up in the streets of London", says frontman, Mat Hammond while, drummer Jeff "Jiv" Tellez explains, "Basically i`m an anglophile, I love the 70`s brit movement and of course the Mod scene!" & Bassist, Steve "Stiv" Flores adds to the nostalgic overtones with, "This music brings back memories of the good & bad times, giving me a direction for the future!", infact i`ve gone all psychic and i`ll predict in the not so distant future, a few of you will be heading to your nearest music supplier and ordering this here CD! If there ever was a band that could front the Mod Indie scene, then its just gotta be Eurovox for me. Opening up the playlist is, "The Underground Sound", a fantastic opener! it`s got the pace, it`s got the power, it`s a surefire modern Mod Anthem, it`s already in the Mod Radio UK top 20 within 3 days of airplay!, "Victoria", think "David Watts" cum "I Predict A Riot", another impressive power popper!, "O.M.H.S.S", Eurovox`s ode to James Bondesque types, well worth a second play!, "All For One", this would have gone down just as well in the Mod Revival of 1979 as it does for today!, "The Also Rans", Hammond`s vocals remind me so much of the yesteryear Mod favourites, Time UK, "Mari-Anne", slowing the pace down slightly with this modern Mod melodrama, "Bomber Harris", I`m picking up a Squire/Meynell swerve to this powerpopper, yet another track thats doing well on our main stream!, "Secret Things", another trip down the Mod Pop Punk way, you just know these chaps put their wholeself into their music and that itself is so rare nowadays!, "Girl", it`s a funny but a good thing as this CD progresses i`m thinking more and more of the fantastic Mod revival period, pure musical magic! flowing thought provoking music that Eurovox have down to a fine art! superb!, "Ready, Steady, Go!", Yet another track that`ll be a Mod anthem & dancefloor classic, can see this being another Mod Radio UK no.1 very soon, flowing onto the last track, "Tears Of A Clown", The Smokey Robinson classic get the modern but retro touch! I was so impressed with their music on the first release but i`ve been totally blown away with this second album and I can`t but help quoting the press release for this CD again with, "The band has captured a classic flavor and interpreted it in a fresh, new way.", here, here! This is definately one of them releases that everyone should sit up and take notice! Steve Flores recently commented, "Be true to yourself and play what you believe in and enjoy", well I`ve certainally enjoyed the last 1/2 hour listening to your work Steve, and by heck it ain`t half hot mum!
