Following the demise of Hunters, Run! singer/songwriter Larry Hess began the Calotype project in 2011. Starting with the single (You're Not A) Betting Man, it became clear that Calotype would focus on a more stripped down and personal sound than Hess's previous efforts. "Coastal Preferences" appeared in 2012 with Hess manning the controls and playing almost all of the instruments. A live band was assembled to promote the EP and that band would feature on the next two offerings, 2013's "Our Initial Descent" and 2014's "Decades". "Good Graces", Calotype's first full length album arrived. It was a more expansive album, featuring expanded use of the female vocals of Amanda Skye and swinging through a mix a folk, pop, rock and electronica recorded and mixed at many different studios in different parts of the world.
