Percussive by Virgil Work, Jr. is a carefully brewed jazz mix that totally swings with percussion, brass, piano and strings. This instrumental collection of eleven tracks opens with the irrepressible Smooth Funk. As the name implies it is new school smooth with elements of old school funk, especially the bouncy bass line. Power Surge and Burning Both ends also provide some upbeat funk enforcement. Percussive Love and Work In Progress provide some tight grooves while the title track showcases Virgil's love for percussion. Joyful Heart and Twice as Nice feature layered piano and string arrangements while Little Big Band and Swing On By have prominent brass soundscapes with jazz progressions. Island Party provides the Latin flavor and the CD is closed out by Work On It which is a funky track with plenty of twists and turns from beginning to end. Virgil Work, Jr. is a producer, songwriter, musician, poet, vocalist and artist. He has been deeply involved with music over the years and has written hundreds of compositions. Virgil's specialties include production, serious beats and percussion. Virgil's music has received airplay and sales in the United States, Canada, Japan and France.
