Juha Kujanpää is a versatile composer and musician living in Helsinki, Finland. He is particulary interested in the area between folk and jazz music. Besides composing music for his own ensembles, Kujanpää also makes music for movies, documentary films and theatre productions. He is working also as a performing musician, playing the piano, reed organ and other keyboard instruments. Some of his most active bands at the moment are Karuna (a trio playing new Scandinavian folk music) and Kirjava lintu (new acoustic folk music composed to Finnish poetry). Other subjects of interest: Scandinavian and Bulgarian folk music, Indian carnatic music, analog synthesizers, ambient soundscapes, acoustic instruments, kantele, improvisation theatre, free improvisation, nyckelharpa, exploring new and strange instruments.

Some of his latest composing works include solo album Kivenpyörittäjä (to be released in November 2013), Kirjava lintu: "Unilintu" (cd, Kuu Records 2012), “Toivon operetti” (music theatre play, Helsingin Taiteellinen Teatteri 2008, two-part radio version Yleisradio 2010, Rovaniemen teatteri 2011-12), “Meillä on unelma” (children’s play 2008-2010), Karuna: “Hyvää matkaa” (cd, Ääniä Records 2010), “The Legend of Birth” (dance theatre, co-operation between Finnish and Indian artists).
