Keyboardist Juha Kujanpää's music combines classic prog rock (in the veins of Jethro Tull, Mike Oldfield and early Genesis) with traditional Finnish folk music. Kujanpää's work has also been often compared to those of his compatriots Pekka Pohjola (prog-jazz composer and bassist for Mike Oldfield) and Anssi Tikanmäki. His new album "Goldwing" is instrumental music with a large ensemble of virtuoso musicians (including guitar maestro Timo Kämäräinen) and an instantly recognizable Nordic soundscape. Violins and fuzz guitars blend seamlessly in a sound that takes its listeners deep into the Finnish forests. Juha Kujanpää is a versatile composer and musician living in Helsinki, Finland. He is particulary interested in the area between folk and jazz music. Besides composing music for his own ensembles, Kujanpää also makes music for movies, documentary films and theatre productions. He is working also as a performing musician, playing the piano, reed organ and other keyboard instruments.
