The hype around Stockholm based hip hop & soul duo Up Hygh have been massive with people like Gilles Peterson, Benji B and DJ Vadim already supporting their space-funk polluted demos. The fact that these two youngsters just turned 20 years and still manages to deliver these ridiculously funky beats with such self-confidence is seriously impressive. Needless to say, we have big hopes for these cats to put boogie down Stocktown on the map! On their debut 12" they bring on the big guns with two solid productions. On Love Dat they invite the vocal chords of future star (word!) Aaron Phiri from label mates and mentors Hearin' Aid to drop some gospel verbal acrobatics. On the b-side find a hi-tech inspired soul cut called The Gift. The track features Up Hygh themselves singing (one of their many hidden talents) and if you hold on to the end something amazing goes down. The track suddenly drops into a deep breakdown just to come back in with different beats and with Stockholm soul boy Melo throwing down some amazing vocals with tweeky effects. Simply gorgeous! Their album is scheduled for a autumn 2005 release and it looks like the boys will have nuff peeps dropping in on their album. So far we have Little Brother, Planet Asia, Melo, Black Fist and Hearin' Aid confirmed as guests. We can't wait!
