Featuring multiple remixes of tracks from his debut EP Bougie Beats, Bougie Beats – The Remixes builds on the foundation of its predecessor, widening Afro Sensei's sonic palette to create an intoxicating brew of nocturnal grooves. “Going into the studio this time I had a clearer idea of what I wanted to do production-wise,” Afro Sensei says. “With Bougie Beats I was sort of feeling my way through the dark, really going off instinct and just the things I loved about electronic and dance music. With this album, I definitely feel like I've really pushed myself and expanded my sound.” "Euphoria” and “Un Peu Maison” plunge the depths of acid and deep house, while “Nightlife” gets both a shimmering nu disco pop and a slow-rolling R&B/funk makeover. “Beat The Breaker” gets revamped into both a ferocious ballroom house cut and an early 90's boom bap instrumental reminiscent of Naughty By Nature or A Tribe Called Quest. And remixes for “Terrordome'” take the original to the trap for “Terrordome (Chop Shop Remix)” and the darker atmospherics of chillwave for the “River Styx Remix.” Meanwhile, the lurid, dramatic grind of album closer "Southern Gothic," brings the party full circle.
