"Why So Serious" is the highly anticipated first EP by The MDz (rapper/singer/songwriter/producer/engineer). The EP was released on May 21, 2016, by One Shot Deal Records. It was co-produced with David "Popshot" Duckworth & has special guest features by Jeanne LaVonn, Bout Cash, Seirah Kichea and CEO Duck. The MDz EP title "Why So Serious" was taken from the name of the last song on this project and is also a reference to one of his favorite villains The Joker (from DC Comics) quoting his famous words from the movie Batman Dark Knight Rises. It was March 21, 2016 when The MDz announced a release date of May 21, 2016 via Twitter and Instagram quoting the intro of the "All Eyes On Me" album by the late great 2 Pac Shakur. "Promises" was released as the EP's first single on April 21, 2016. It was written, produced & engineered by Jalani "The MDz" Wilson. A week later, he posted a picture on instagram with this caption: "On April 21st, I released my single "Promises" to the world... Since the release date of my single up until now, you all have shown me nothing but love buy purchasing my song. On May 1, 2016, The MDz revealed that the EP's cover picture was taken on the set of LA's famous "Jesus Wall" which is over 80 framed pictures and figures of characters from the bible which is blurred out of focus behind him. He also designed all of the artwork adding his original Mighty Heart logo to the cover.
