As a songwriter, Bryan Free still combines piano and introspective lyrics. But now you hear aggressive beats and synth lines. They don't replace the saloon persuasion of the older days: they lie down with the flute and horn section. The E.P. begins darkly, and quickly moves into a transitory space that speaks of Lust and Love, if there is any difference.
