TMINUS021 marks our second artist EP and a triumphant return from one our frequent remixers and contributors at Terminus Audio - Scotland's Nico Kohler - who has been quite staying busy as of late with releases on several respected labels and more set to come in the new year. This is a rock-solid collection of tracks that should have a little something for everyone in the Techno/House spectrum. German newcomer DIRCRONE, fresh off a dynamite debut artist EP with Terminus; joins the package with a stellar remix. Terminus Audio proudly presents Nico Kohler's 'Perspective EP'. We begin with the title track 'Perspective', a no-nonsense Techno workout driven by an effective, cool and grooving synth line. Featuring the intricate cymbal work, percussion and slick effects we've come to expect from Nico - this a dark but funky number makes for a great all-around tune for any set and can be applied in a variety of settings. Next up is 'The World Is Mine', a tough and moody piece with a great understated melody, a growling bass and futuristic arpeggios and fx. Complete with nice shuffling claps and a prominent ride cymbal - this is a good reflection of Nico Kohler's signature style on his A-game. We imagine this will wind up in the set of many DJ's in the months to come. Third on the 'Perspective EP' is 'Big Business', a slight departure from the sound you may expect from Nico - A fresh Deep House approach with this track, here we find a fun and plodding bass line, some nice filtered layers and classic keys. Minimal but effective with careful use of layers; this is one of Nico's most interesting tracks to date and one we think you will find useful. Finally, and last but not definitely not least - Germany's DIRCRONE turns in a remix that hits the sweet spot. This is almost a condensed, sleekly-produced Progressive take on the 'Big Business'. A driving bass, soaring pads and lush sound design characterize this tune. The drums here are dead-on and the effects are precise and large-and-in-charge. A melodic; yet still funky, deep and powerful track. We look forward to hearing more soon from Nico Kohler - and what the upcoming TMINUS022 brings.
