简介

"To say she is multi-talented is certainly an understatement." - Today's Woman Magazine "Kaelin is always a treat." -Courier Journal "...the woman can write songs." - Paul Moffett, Louisville Music News "...graceful style and warm, engaging presence... - Jeffrey Lee Puckett, Courier Journal ""...[Brigid Kaelin is] a lyrically driven musician who is as adept at owning her music as Joni Mitchell and as amusingly -- and amazingly -- versatile vocally as the late Eva Cassidy." - Angie Fenton, Velocity Weekly "If you have seen [Brigid KAELIN] perform, you might also mistake her sound for nationally emerging singer-songwriters Erin McKeown or Nellie McKay or the long-established styles of Joni Mitchell or Edie Brickell. Kaelin's own versatile vocal style shifts seamlessly within a set from spirited to sultry." - Beth Newberry, Louisville Magazine "...subtle and seductive..." - Stephen George, Louisville Eccentric Observer "...clever, thoughtful songwriting ..." - Louisville Magazine "the music she makes brushes against a few select genres, ones that fit the richness and clarity of her voice and the toffee-smooth way she uses it." - Tim Roberts, Louisville Music News "Louisville singer-songwriter Brigid Kaelin's first all-original release, Keep Your Secrets, successfully merges compelling lyrics with a strong but vulnerable voice perfect for melancholy ballads as well as up-tempo sing-alongs, which the album balances well. Kaelin makes the process seem as easy and effortless as riding a bike. She shifts gears several times throughout the 10 songs, making ground on everything from bluegrass ("Whisky in the Faucet") and country ("Big Ol' House) to a Cole Porter-esque lounge number ("Future Mr. Used-to-Be") and depressing chick tunes that could be plucked off WB's "One Tree Hill" ("Secrets," "Brown Liquor").... And if her live performance is even half as good as the album, the following opportunities will most certainly not be wasted evenings: Kaelin's CD release party is Saturday at Phoenix Hill, where the Brigid Kaelin Band opens for Garrison Starr." (Saturday, June 25, 2005) - Sara Havens, LEO Weekly ************ Louisville songstress BRIGID KAELIN has become famous overnight in her hometown, with the release of "Keep Your Secrets," in June 2005. Her ten-song independent release that covers an ambitious range of styles and themes: from the tongue-in-cheek modern feminist tunes "Future Mr. Used-to-Be" and "I Want You All," to the heartfelt piano songs, "Ballad of Motorcycle Joe" and "Secrets," to lyrically-driven folk rock songs such as "Highway" and "Do You Think About Her?" "Obviously, I've been influenced by the musicians I've played with, and I've played an incredible variety of genres," the 26-year-old Kaelin says. Once a cabaret pianist in New York City, Kaelin is a trained jazz pianist, but she doesn't like to limit herself to one style. "There's so much music out there, and I listen to all different types. My favorite CDs are the ones where not every track sounds like the one before it." While plaing piano in cabaret clubs, Kaelin also played guitar in a traditional Irish band in NYC. "One night I'd be at a piano bar in the West Village, and the next day I'd be singing a 300-year-old ballad at a Renaissance Faire in the country." 'Keep Your Secrets' is a phenomenal debut from a serious musician who knows ho to have fun. As 'Velocity Weekly' says, "Don't expect Brigid Kaelin to evoke the tortured soul so often evident in the music of female singer-songwriters. What you'll find instead is a lyricall-driven musician who is as adept at owning her music as Joni Mitchell and as amusingly -- and amazingly -- versatile vocally as the late Eva Cassidy." Amusing and amazing is exactly what you'll find when you hear Brigid Kaelin's music.
