Singer songwriter James Owain put the band together in 2006 after he graduated from the Academy of Contemporary music. After experimenting with a number of different line-ups he eventually found a bunch of talented musicians with a natural chemistry and a love for funky music. The band decided early on to develop a unique sound which would make them stand out from the rest of the new acts out there. They achieve this by taking wide variety of musical styles, which can be everything from Rock to Reggae and put their own stamp on it. This approach keeps things fresh and interesting for the audience but still sounds unique to them. JumpStart also pride themselves on their carefully crafted musical arrangements and high quality 3 part vocal harmonies both live and on recordings. The band have just finished recording their debut album entitled, "Make it Big". The album is being launched on June 22nd 2008 and will be on sale shortly after that date. Other achievements: The band won track of the week on garageband.com against bands from around the world. They won the Woking O'Neils battle of the bands in 2007. JumpStart shot their first professional music video at the Top Gear racetrack last year. The band have played several large charity events including Oxjam and the children’s cancer trust.
