简介

"Lookin' Through Sheere" is the first album I recorded. "Middle Ages" previously released and available on this site, was recorded after this CD. "Lookin' Through Sheere" is a compilation of songs I wrote while in my 20's and early 30's. I was searching for my life's direction. I was searching for love. I was searching for the meaning of life and a reason for the human condition. So with guitar and pen I organized my thoughts, and it turned out to be great therapy. I assume I am reasonably sane. As time would have it, I found my life's direction and became a music teacher (guitar, drums and bass). I found my wife. I never found all the answers for the meaning of life. If you can say that, you probably haven't thought of all the questions. But this I have come to know...... We come into this world alone, to the sound of a mother's heart beat. We leave it alone, hopefully from the arms of someone we love. What we do between those dates are roads to travel, choices to be made. We are Kings of all we survey, each and every one of us. Free to command our hearts desire. Free to tolerate or not, what we cannot control. And free to live with the consequences of what we choose. That is our way. Seems to me humanity would be a whole lot better off if more choices were made for the benefit of all mankind, and not the individual …. but I guess that's part of the riddle to why we are here. Song Notes: "Think I feel The Sky" This is my save the planet song. I wrote it after coming out of the bush after a weekend camping bender. It was acid rain back then. Today it's global warming. "Space Age Traffic" What would happen if humanity could actually travel the universe. A Timmy's on every asteroid? .... I was thinking red necks peeling space rubber. "Inter-Office Memo" is the introduction to the theme of this collection of songs, a search for spirituality, a study of the human condition. "'Till the Grey Goes Away" This song is hot, it's a love song, it's my, I wanna woman song ... You'll have to imagine I'm 25 again, because a grandfather singing this song is just a little creepy. "Wanting on You" Another love song. One of my personal favorites. Your puppy dog eyes are tearing me apart ..... love that line. "Innocence" advances the theme ..... the consequences of the years and gathering of personal wisdom. This and the next song focus on the darker aspects of humanity. "Watchers of the City" I was inspired after watching a Kojack movie. Where there is no justice there is violence, that was Telly Savalis, the rest was mine. So now every time I see people protesting some injustice or another, I get the urge to grab my guitar and go join them. One of these days I just may do that. "Naked Heart" This is my wife's favourite song, though I wrote it before I met her. "Say The Words" is about the loneliness of loosing a lover paralleled with a cry to our Creator. His silence is hard to take sometimes. "Candles" Meet my wife on vocals ...... she said: but dear I can't sing ...... she did just fine. If you're married, pay attention to the lyrics. "What You Want" This song will make you smile. It still makes me smile. "Sweet Breezes" is really about how we face life in general and our own mortality as we sail along to eternity. "Maybe Today-Game" is the one song I wrote at the time of recording this CD. The recession was just starting to bite ...... and yes I'm still trying to save the world while the world sits and plays its games. "Conclusion" There are lots of Christmas carols. I wrote this song for Easter and no, I'm not trying to convert anyone. The song concludes the theme of "Lookin' Through Sheere". It's my journey, my struggle to make sense of what we're doing here ........ I'm just saying what works for me. and so, if you find a few words of wisdom in this collection of songs to help you on your way ..... that's my intention. So now I have 2 albums on this site. One written as a young man, the other when I've had a considerable number of years to …. age. It's a new concept. Write an album, wait 30 years, then write another album and release them both together. It's a study of how our thoughts and values change through the years, and yet stay the same. It also shows you how one man can do the job of many. Both albums were created by me alone in my home studio with a computer and one mic. Not bad for an old guy. I hope you like my work. If you don't ..... well at least it made you think. And that is good. Greg Sheere
