简介
Over the Rainbow is considered one of the greatest songs of all time. Of course it was written for the Movie, "The Wizard of Oz". While numerous renditions exist, I assume my treatment of the song as a traditional tango is quite unique. Of my many recordings available on cdbaby and itunes, this is the only one in which I chose to have another person play the guitar. After living in Buenos Aires for four years I made a great deal of Argentine musician friends. Two of them are the guitarist Pablo Figueroa and the bandoneonist Gabriel Rivano who accompany me in this song. The bandoneon is the button accordion most popular in Argentine Tango. While all tangos are in minor keys, "Over the Rainbow" is in a major key. To some this will cause some confusion or even dislike. In all other ways the arrangement is in the style of Juan D'Arienzo the great tango band leader and arranger. Like the music of D'Arienzo, "Over the Rainbow (tango)" is meant to support dancing tango. If you don't dance tango you might enjoy it as well.
