What a masterpiece yet again from Dersonna. Following on from his hard hitting, old school techno hammer that was Atmos, comes the filthiest underground sub flooded kick in the teeth for some time. This relentless attack on our ever depreciating ear drums again enhances Dersonna's excellent reputation as one of Glasgow's forerunners of the future of dance music. The ambitious early album in the fairly young career of Dersonna is surely a sign of many fruitful years playing out to the masses of Scotland and beyond. Experiments is the start of a new wave of techno from 3rd Abstract Records. The album starts on a high with single The Beat Of The Bassdrum. The robotic speech shows a sense of purpose and intent as the siren-like synths grab the listeners first impressions, and give them an almighty slap across the face. This continues through hard hitting tech tracks De-Tune & Here It Is with the added old school and tribal ingredients thrown into the recipe. Title track Experiments sounds like turning up to a University chemistry lab in which the students have spent their morning playing drinking games in their Students Union, with this chemical techno feel flowing into Power Surge & Transitions perfectly. Despite the contrasting techno and electro styles, the album always moves smoothly in a showcase of Dersonna's influences. The vocal samples tear through For My People and the breakbeats of Speaker with aplomb heading into the final chapter of the release. A tweaked version of 2010's Atmos retains the relentless listening experience, the synths stabbing into the chest, yet gluing ears to headphones the world over. Vox brings us back to the initial intent of the album, and acts as a final reminder that Dersonna will continue to fly at you with pace, leaving only debris in his path.
