简介
This album is a synopsis of life observations and self-reflections of growing up on the less than kind streets of Los Angeles, CA with tracks like "BEAUTIFUL CITY" and "PANDEMONIUM FEAT. PAWZ1". Tenochtitlan conveys her love of her Mexican-American culture and pride in her community and who she is from the very beginning on the tracks "MI PUEBLO". The Time Travel Intro gives us a brief summary of how she feels that although brutal at times, the ancient Aztec's reverence towards the forces of nature and the fragilty of life have been lost in time on "1519", a powerfully poet albeit nostalgic track. She unapologetically bares her naked soul on tracks like "SINK OR SWIM", revealing a deep, painful war going on within her mind on "TENO VS. TENO" between her desires to be successful and do well, and her love of the raw and wreckless streetlife. "FADED" is the closest you're going to get to a love story on this album, and this story ends with jabs n' left hooks as she reveals how a seemingly beautiful relationship erupted into domestic violence. Her response to the remedial rap on the radio these days: "SOUND OFF FEAT. MENEZ & DRIFT THE DEAN". She makes it clear which side of the illegal immigration side she is on with "ILLEGALES FEAT. DAZER and MOCTEZUMA of ESTADO DE EMERGENCIA" the only all Spanish track on the album, bringing attention to how the United States crucifies other nations for the most benign of human rights violations yet has zero compassion in ousting a people that has contributed to it's own heritage for hundreds of years. "WHERE DID HIPHOP GO?" another ill collab FEAT. MENEZ, JRAT and SICKMANSTAN, all L.A. based MCs, explains that HIPHOP is right before your eyes and ears, as she takes on a verse that relishes about wanting to broaden her horizons and travel the world. The album concludes with a blatant dismissal of D.C. and politics in general, and a call to take the future of our communities into our own hands through civil service and volunteerism which have been a huge part of Tenochtitlan's life for about ten years now on the poignant "SKID ROW" and the OUTRO. Tenochtitlan puts her heart and soul into every single verse, she purposely knocks you around on the tracks with her powerful voice and steady delivery, expect no apologies. Be on the lookout for more from this rising voice in underground hiphop.
