DESCENDERS OF THE FAITH It's the sound of a late 80's warehouse rave invaded by an android Liberace from Studio 54 as reimagined by Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Heavy rimshots and 808 percussion get things cracking before multiple acid baselines gatecrash the percussion party. Things drop to the sound of a crowd before we return to the classics, and a monster piano riff so big that monster must be Godzilla. Then a pause for breath before it all kicks off again. Only moreso. Dancefloor dynamite. HEADSTONES There must be something in the water at Grass Green HQ just now. First Monkey Boots delivered a tribal-infused monster in the shape of Impossible Need, now it's stablemates Reed & Radley's turn to rock the African flavours. Like an 80s obsessed hairdresser this one's all about the layers. Kicked along by nagging woodblocks, fluttering bongos and a rolling sub bass three lots of stabs keep the momentum building as snatches of vocal drift in and out of the groove. Some seriously twisted tribal chanting takes thing up another notch before Reed & Radley round things off with some trademark narcotic synth squelches and mutating pads. Tribal as a mofo. FIELDS OF MAY Now hear this. Deep and dark like a ninja in a mine. Skipping and swinging like a kangaroo at a playground.
