"Debut" is Harrison's second album but his first all original home recorded project. Using an audio program and cheap mic that came stock on his computer, he achieved a unique stripped down retro sound fortified with predominant yet tasteful vocal effects. The splendid distortion is due to the shoddy mic being overwhelmed. Because the mic was inside his computer, all the songs have a "room" sound. One hears the drums and guitar bouncing off the walls which gives this album its natural sound as opposed to a contrived sterile sound from micing individual instruments. Credit is also due to his collection of vintage guitars and amps. The main guitar used in this album is his '62 Silvertone hollow body. This is the infamous guitar that was stolen by a crazed ex girlfriend who inspired many of the songs with her incessant lying and unforgiving ill-treatment of Harrison. The Silvertone was gone for four months and chances of finding it were looking hopeless. But one spring day a buddy of his wandered into Austin Vintage Guitars and there it was. With his most prized possession back in his hands, Harrison made his "Debut". Artist bio: Harrison Brown was born and raised in the live music capital of the world, Austin Texas in 1990. Raised with one sibling and single mother, he was the only one of his family to take an interest in and excel in music. Harrison first picked up a guitar at the age of fourteen, quickly took a liking to the blues, and a few years later was playing small gigs across Austin. Playing guitar for local bands such as Princess and the ATX Boys, Travis Green and the Late Bloomers, Marcus Tharpe and the Southside Ramblers, and Jennifer B and the Groove Kings, he decided to pick up a microphone and start fronting his own shows. Harrison's style of "less is more" almost exclusively old school playing builds up to screaming bends and moaning crying licks drenched in reverb. This combined with his filthy delta slide playing and soulful singing has made him a force to be reckoned with. Harrison owes his discovery and love for the blues to his former guitar instructor and mentor Tony Redman, and draws influence and inspiration from legends such as Jimmy Reed, Hound Dog Taylor, Elmore James, Lightnin' Hopkins, Freddie King, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Corey Harris, Alvin Youngblood Hart, and more modern artists like the Black Keys, Black Lips, Blacktop, the King Khan and BBQ Show, the Almighty Defenders, Natural Child, Nobunny, the Gories, Night Beats, and Guadalupe Plata, as well as Austin musicians like Gary Clark Jr., Zapata, the Little Elmore Reed Band, and the Moeller Brothers. Harrison currently resides in south Austin, where he is working on new sounds from old guitars and old truths from new women.
