Being born and rasied in Zimbabwe and living through some of the turbulent times the country has faced, Matt McChlery was well placed to write a song of hope for the nation. 'Zimbabwe, Jewel of Africa' is based on and adapted from a prophetic word given by Cindy Jacobs in Guatemala City on 20th October 1998 that swept through Zimbabwe during the late 90s, giving hope to all who heard it. This song was recorded in South Africa with some of Matt's friends from His People Church in Grahamstown, the idea being a song for Zimbabwe that captures a true African sound and carries the heart beat and promises of God. 'Zimbabwe, Jewel of Africa' was originally released as part of an EP in 2001 and received a great deal of airplay on Zimbabwe's Radio 3 FM and reached the top 10.
