If i would be asked for an example of the prog-rock band who totally changed its music style from one album to another, I definitely should point at Norwegian band Ruphus, that was starting as a heavy psych/prog band, but then turned to symphonic prog, then to prog with a light touch of jazz, and finally to fusion... The next band in this hypothetical Prothean prog list is Yonin-Bayashi, also started as a heavy psych/prog band, and then also turned to symphonic prog (on this album!)... Then YB turned to light-weighted art-pop, and... omg! it turned to pathetic commercial sound... Thats why Golden Picnics seems to be a kind of APOGEE for the musical career of the last mentioned band. This album is so much enjoyable that it indulges a bands sin of being turned to pop-heresy! A musical feast indeed!
