简介
Poppin’s Brother is based on a fictitious character related to the famous movie character Mary Poppin’s. K Sos has been quoted saying “there was a type of surrealistic scene I encountered while creating this music; if there was a movie about Mary Poppin’s Brother, this would probably be the soundtrack”. Sos refers to this album as the sequel to 2012’s “On the Way to Rome” recorded with non-touring Hoy Polloy member guitarist/engineer Nick Romanelli. As always, Roman’s subtle guitar indulgences really help to define Sos’s sound on the seven tracks he appears on. The single “The Vine” features wailing solos coupled with funky dance beats and guest vocals from No Ordinary Cat, Rams, and Sos’s friend Holly. N.O.C. fan favorite J.O. drops a quick but slick verse on “Gremlin Rue” and K Sos even plays a little guitar for the first time on “Packaderm”. When asked why there were no appearances from the current Hoy Polloy line up Sos replied “the band is writing such an incredible amount of songs right now that, these songs (from Poppin’s Brother) is what I work on when the band is not available to create…” Sos did say that they do a live version of “Please to Meet You” which is one of their most intriguing attractions currently. When asked why his long time production mentor K.D. was absent from the project Sos said that “K.D. already has at least one appearance on the follow up to 2011’s Sciamachy entitled The Noisiest Passenger out in April, hopefully I’m snag him for a few more and final mix down at the end. He hears things I can’t” Sos claims the songs were written over the a two year period, some even a little longer and a few only 6 weeks before release. “Modern Times” is a reproduced version of a track of the same name from Sos’s comeback debut The Presport in 2008. As always, original artwork from visual genius Nick Beery perfectly sets the tone. Released Nov. 4th 2014. Run Time: 51:03
