Often, I allow someone else to write this section, but I decided to do this one myself because of how personal this album was to me. When asked what to expect from Manifest Destiny Express, I told everyone that would listen that this was an album about a journey; my journey. It is about a young man who has grown physically, spiritually, and emotionally. It is about a man who has spent every minute over the last three years (my 30th birthday) focusing on his legacy. This album is earth shattering for a couple reasons. For one, I've never been more personal throughout an entire album as I have on this one. Songs like WESward Bound, My Mission, Determination, First Born, and Where I Am are what I call "bedrock" songs. They form the foundation of the album's message and really point out my mindset over the last 3 years. When I turned 30, I began to ask myself what I wanted my tombstone to read? What would I want people to say about me when I'm gone? At some point, one has to begin to focus on the eternal and not just what is here and now. The second reason this is an earth shattering album is because of how I've evolved creatively. Nothing is more gratifying than listening to your earlier work and comparing it to your current work and realizing how much you've grown as an artist. Most of that growth came from the spiritual side since I've really dived into ministry at my church with a cheerful heart and a willing spirit. I'm really proud of this album on so many levels and it is my sincerest prayer that it touches the lives of millions of people around the world. I'm just going to speak that one into existence.
