We met ten years ago, at a class in the middle of corporate America in Scottsdale, Arizona when I took a seat next to her. Throughout that day, we discovered that meeting was no coincidence. By noon we discovered: • Our mothers were born 1 day apart in 1936. • Our oldest sibling’s name is Paul. • We both grew up on a street named “Dewey”. “So?” you ask. Jeanne grew up in Wisconson, and myself in New Jersey. • We’re both professional singers • Both have a background in theatre • We’re one year apart in age. • We’re both attending the same college and graduate within a year of each other. • We’d both been praying for a friend. We’ve been singing together ever since. Where does the music come from? One day in the winter of 2006, Jeanne gets a call from her friend, Doug. His church was looking to audition a vocalist, and Jeanne asked if she could bring me along, too. When we got there, we made our introductions in the bookstore. As we chatted, the books started catching our attention. Authors like Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Choprah, Carolyn Myss and others jumped out at us as we realized we were in the midst of our personal libraries. “What is this place?” we asked. “Unity.” said the Reverend. We auditioned, and were hired before we finished the first song. We’ve been singing there ever since, and this is where the music is born. Every week the Reverend tells us what the lesson will be about, and maybe 3 out of every 4 weeks we write a new song or two to align with the lesson. Enter four incredible musicians and one extraordinary band. This is also where we met our extraordinary band: John Chapman on upright bass, Jason Fay on drums, Brian Palmerino on guitar, and Jimmy Boyd on piano. We show up with a chorded lyric sheet at 8am on Sundays, and in less than an hour, this incredible band breathes life and style into the music. We are so blessed by their incredible talent. You guys ROCK!!!! Together we are The JaJa’s Greater than the sum of all our parts, we are The JaJa’s. We came together from across the US, breathing in Spirt, and breathing out music. Thanks for listening. The JaJa’s Bios (More to come) Jeanne Mac Laughlin Singer, songwriter, and life coach, believes that everyone has the answers to all of their life's questions within. Jeanne’s eclectic musical influences include R&B greats Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner, a smattering of Irish folk artists as well as the powerful voices of Whitney Houston and Bette Middler. Jeanne lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where she has performed professionally for about 15 years. She is also an exceptional motivational speaker and life coach, who’s coaching sessions are focused, creative, and grounded in reality. Jeanne enjoys living in Phoenix with her husband Charles. They enjoy mountain bike riding, hiking and camping. Barbara Horton Singer and songwriter, believes in the transformational power of music. Barbara, who began writing at 13, believes that every person has a song within. Although her vocal style was primarily driven by the blues, Barb’s voice has a style of its own. She delivers music in an animated style. Barb has performed professionally in the Phoenix area for over 20 years. She also operates a home recording studio, where she has helped many individuals uncover and record their own unique songs from within. Barb lives in Gilbert with her husband David, and daughter, Faith. Together, they enjoy camping and exploring the beautiful mountains of northern Arizona
