简介
This album traces an alternate history of London during the Victorian Era. In this fictional account, steam-powered airships travel the skies, industrialists build high-tech factories, and London enjoys prosperity and power under the great Queen Victoria. Yet at the height of London's glory, sinister forces gather in the North Sea, and soon the city and nation are swept into a fight for their very survival. "Tales of Steampunk London" mixes melodically rich classical themes with modern film music styles. Composer Jason Cullimore is strongly inspired by opportunities to mix different musical styles and by telling stories through music, and composing this album has allowed him to do both. The city of London has always had a special resonance for Jason - his family is originally from England and London has always seemed like an ancestral home to him. "Tales of Steampunk London" is Jason's tribute to the city, re-imagined in the form of a legend. Jason Cullimore is a composer of classical concert music, film scores and electronica. He has won several significant awards for his music, including a Grand Prize in the Jazz Category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a Grand Prize in the Instrumental Category of the UK Songwriting contest, and a Western Canadian Music Award for Classical Recording of the Year for 2013's symphonic album "Cinematic Symphony and Gamescores". His concert music has been performed by the Winnipeg, Regina and Victoria Symphony Orchestras, plus a variety of choirs and chamber ensembles. Jason is also a researcher in the field of adaptive music, and he is actively engaged in designing computer based systems that allow composers to write music that responds to and interacts with its listeners. His work has applications in video game and web-based music, and he is inspired by the new creative and expressive opportunities that computer-based music systems offer the composer, performer and music fan. Jason is currently based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
