Silent Violence follows the success of Syvia's debut album FWD released in 2015.The EP features their recent single "Anxious Animal", which has received rave reviews from sites like The Wild Honey Pie, I Heart Moosiq and more. In The Junk Yard Music called it "a power­packed track wrapped in a wall of reverberated noise."

Syvia exists where the Northern Lights meet the skyscrapers of New York City. Their emotive guitar riffs intertwine with atmospheric synths and pulsing drums to create a brand of dark, brooding electro­rock sure to entrance listeners. The band is led by Ruth Mirsky, a dual American­-Norwegian citizen born and bred in NYC's Chinatown. Mirsky is joined by Frank Banisi (guitar), Sheldon Chow (bass) and Rich Moyle (drums) to complete Syvia's lineup. Their debut FWD was released in February of 2015, garnering critical acclaim across the blogosphere, as well as elevating their presence in their native New York City. FWD was hailed as "superlative­worthy" by MTV Iggy and "stunning" by Audiofemme. The Wild Honey Pie added that Syvia was "gauzy perfection". In 2015, Syvia was named a Green Label/Soundcloud Finalist for their lead single "Two Homes". In 2016 they embarked on their first international tour of Norway, Sweden, and Finland as the featured band on Brooklyn Brewery's "Brooklyn Sound" tour.
