Julian De La Chica composed "Pie Jesu" in honor of the Costarican soprano Ana Echandi. Mr. De la Chica used the original text as well as part of the tex of "Agnus dei", similarly to that of the British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Miss. Echandi recorded a single version in summer 2014 in Costa Rica. Pie Jesu (original Latin: Pie Iesu) is a motet derived from the final couplet of the Dies irae and often included in musical settings of the Requiem Mass.
