Vernal, released on the vernal equinox March 20th 2015, is the first in a series of textural ambient albums from sunstrom. Vernal serenades the earth rounding the orbital bend towards the sun-drenched summer solstice. As warmth is introduced to the frozen landscape, soil and life buzz with potential. The music springs with immersive textures and harmonic beds. Arpeggios rise and fall through a haze of ambient vapor. Recorded live to 2 track at the Cabana, Seattle WA. A table of synthesizers, samplers and effects make up the physical instrument that creates sunstrom sound. The music is created on the eve of final capture; discovered, performed, arranged, mixed and recorded finally. Being without revision, the process allows the music to remain alive and transparent. Disappearing into the background, the music evokes mood and nature, bending and stretching time and the perception of surroundings. Naturegaze.
