简介
My “Christmas” album is a collection of some of my Christmas songs I have written through the years. The earliest tune on the album is “Hallelulalay” which I wrote while I was a Freshman in college – 48 years ago! “The Lord Is Born” I wrote while in Brazil in 1970. “When December Brings Christmas” was written for KUTV in Salt Lake City in 1975 for a special TV broadcast. They video taped me performing the song in the studio and aired it on Christmas Eve after the 6 p.m. newscast. I wish I had a copy of that video tape now! “It's a Winter Day” and “Christmas Magic” were also written in the 1970's. In the 1980's I was busy being a magazine publisher and editor in Salt Lake City, Reno and Chicago, so I didn't write much music. I found myself back in the studio as a producer for Platinum Boulevard Records in the 1990's. “December Night”, “We're Falling in Love for Christmas”, “Christmas Time Is Here” and “Merry Christmas from Nevada” all came from that period. I wrote some other Christmas music for artists at Platinum Boulevard, but they do not appear on this album. In 1994, I moved to Nashville where I wrote “You're My Christmas Angel”. “Santa Claus” was written for the children's CD, “Kid's Days and Holidays”, but I thought I would also include it here. I had my own little studio by 2005 which is when I decided to gather all this material together and put it in an album. “Bah Humbug!” was written for this album as was “Christmas Bossa Nova” which was a request from my paramour, Peggy Jean, who asked me to “write a Christmas song about us!” I released this album in 2010, but pulled it some years later because I wanted to re-work some stuff. All in all, it is quite a musical journey done in Christmas songs. Lot's of different studios (which caused some mastering problems), lots of different musicians and, of course, lots of different “me's”. I suppose the thing I am most proud about is the originality of the music. There are many styles represented here and I was always up to the challenge to write something about Christmas, but different each time. Perhaps I will write some more Christmas songs, but until then, I hope you will enjoy this “Christmas”.
