While reminiscing about what inspired me to start 14 Karat Soul in the first place, and what it was that opened so many doors for us, I realized that it was our particular style and presentation of acappella. The sound of acappella is so uplifting and refreshing that it always leaves me wanting to hear more. Over the years, our fans have been asking for more and more acappella, so I thought… “Why not record an entirely acappella album again?” One night, during a dream, I saw old friends of ours, an amazing Japanese vocal group that call themselves "The Gospellers". These guys went from coming to our shows and singing backstage for us to becoming the top record selling artists in Japan! In my dream, they were on stage singing the chorus to “Take Me Back”. When I woke up, I realized that it was actually a new song I had been blessed with, somehow inspired by their spirit. I finished writing the song with thoughts of how I felt the first time I heard acappella, and how it changed my life forever. We ended up recording a few of The Gospellers' more popular songs for this CD. This also included a song (“That Kinda Song”) that they say was written with 14 Karat Soul in mind. Needless to say, the songs were all brilliant! Provided with the meanings of the songs and a few key words, I was able to come up with a version of lyrics that allowed us to record these songs in English. From beginning to end, you’ll find that this album is a mixture of some of the musical flavors that make 14 Karat Soul what we really are. All Acappella… All for You! Enjoy! Glenny T.
